Technology Vs Marketing

If i ask you which is important for a car? Brake or Tyre ? ...Like that which is important for a software company Programmer or Sales person?.. As well known American proverb goes "Nothing is free", both of them @ the end of the day need to generate revenue.

If you take Microsoft corporation, how whatever products of Microsoft has been automatically dominating the market ? Is that because of good Marketing or good Programming ? The debate continues and big fight extends.......

If you can bring a Marketing guy with programming background then you have more probability that you will win large number of contracts as he/she will understand the technology and will get a hold of whats happening. But in real scenarios we don't get everytime a marketing guy with programming background.

A marketing person has a tough time everytime he/she gets a contract and he/she will be in uptight position till the contracts ends well and proper money has been generated.

Marketing is a skill where you need to put trust, confidence first and money next. A marketing person should be able to accept the client based on mutual understanding with his/her soft skills and business etiquette and take client's assignment as his/her assignment. A marketing person is always in constant danger as anytime anything can go wrong, he/she can have the control upto getting you a project/contract.

Thereafter the developer/programmer should take it forward. The programmer can't take things lightly as it might end up in disater results. Though programming is science it is actually art, good practices and good programming makes feel proud a programmer, not only upto programmer, to marketing team, to the management of the company.

So if the marketing team succeeds, it will not be always visible to programming team & other teams, but that is not the case for programming team, every nook and corner hi/her success will be visible. A good programmer is like a DOLLAR COW, gets more & more $$s. Ideally the marketing and technology synchronization is in the hands of recruiting team and the recruiting team is in the hands of management of the company, the management of the company is in the hands of good attitude people.

So to conclude for a car brake & tyre is important, Marketing members are like tyres they can get you assignment and Technology team is like brake, you need to work it out properly and HR team is like manufactures of the car :)...Well you can be doing marketing or programming, but you need to be true to your job :)....The debate continues ..........

Attitude

You have a plan to achieve, but circumstances are very against you. Neither anybody listens you nor no one is there to help you out. There is extreme failure on your shoulders. All your mighty plans are ending up with zero solution.

You have only one thing with you and that is attitude, that is the one that makes you to come back in a great fashion. To get a winning attitude we need to include in our blood group 1. Motivation 2. Concentration 3. Persistence 4. Preparation

Motivations can be categorized as external & internal motivations. If others make you to inspire then that is external, but each time you can't get a supporting hand for you, as the great Infosys Mentor Mr.Narayanamurthy, the entrepreneur of 21st century says "LEADERSHIP IS LONELINESS", rough times will be solo, where as soft time will be lot of people with you.

Always be internally motivated yourself, see the things as interesting aspect rather than loosing focus and getting out when you have reached your 95%. Maintain an inner controlled maturity over yourself and your doing so that you will be doing only what you need to do and no nonsense will be liberated by you.

Concentration is attention to your mind by brain. What you think must be mutually agreed by your mind and brain, when your mind & brain are in line then that is concentration. The great wall of india, Rahul Dravid has lot of concentration, a person born to be shown as an example of concentration. He bats all the 5 days in the test match and makes bowlers arm pain :)

Persistence means trying, trying till you win. Only determination coupled with persistence can reach you great horizons. But all the above factors conclude under a single nut shell called "ATTITUDE".

A fine example for an attitude:

"When it rains all the birds occupy shelter. But Eagle is the only bird which avoids the rain by flying above the clouds. Problems may be common to all but ATTITUDE is the only thing which makes you unique & happier at the end of the day".

Be Focused

Never take things lightly. It can be very dangerous and many times people who take things lightly, suffer a lot. A simple example here is the Mumbai Test match(in late 2006) where our team took the English team lightly, due to the absence of major players like Trescothick, Vaughan, Harmisson (who missed out the last match). What the final result was that India were bowled out for 100 and England managed a series draw. That's because of not taking things seriously and absence of focus.

The reason for failures is lack of practice, taking things lightly without any proactiveness and absence of focus. India has many-many Arts, Commerce, Science and Engineering colleges in India - In fact Management institutes (Hotel, Business, etc.) are increasing day after day. But we notice a drop in Medical colleges as the focus required for MBBS is much longer. I am talking about a degree of 4.5 years, an Intership of 1-1.5 years, then practise study for 2-3 years and total Doctor would be studying for a period of around 10 years - the longest focus period required. A Doctor can never take things lightly. While Engineers play with Machines, Journalists play with words, Accountants play with numbers, Doctors play with Human lives. They have to have 100% focus in their task at all times. We don't need to be as proactive as doctors, but should be try and focus at least 50% of how much they do. There is no alternative to preparation in the real world for achieving success.

There are people who focus only on their goal and attain that without taking things lightly even for very small things. Bill Gates was a school drop out and he suffered a lot at that time, but he did not take things lightly. With extreme focus, he planned and executed his dreams and now he is the richest man in the world. That is not only because of work, but also because of his hard work. Gates used to sleep only for 4 hrs in the late 90s. Today, whatever product Microsoft develops, is automatically marketed. That is the power of focus.

Mistakes are bound occur as we all are human beings. But only few accept to mend the mistake. Failures are not the end of our part, it only takes some updates for your optimum success. Focus on your goals and with proper discipline and determination you can implement your dreams.

The Challenge

This blog discusses one's mindset and fighting spirit. The Germans and Indians are known as the best fighters around the globe.

When your interest, involvement and effort is at the highest, then you will be the BEST. If you are prepared to learn from your failures, you can easily reach where you want to.

Courage is the most important mental quality in your life. If you try to discipline your thoughts, you will see things happenings around you, in a disciplined manner.

If you channelise your mind properly, you would do things what you need to.

The fire that should burn in your heart will lead to greater heights. Challenges in life are there to test how much you can fight and how fit you are. Sustained and dedicated efforts will bring you the footsteps for your success.

In the late 1970s, those who wasted a lot of money for India's technological development, were motivated by Vikram Sarabhai. In the late 1980s, the same task was re-invented and helped gain more money for India. This feat was achieved by none other than our honourable APJ Abdul Kalam. Challenges are broken into pieces by individuals like these.

If you face a challenge with full courage and put in a good effort, ironically you then become a challenge for the challenge!

In 1989, there was this little chap who was teased and commented on by Pakistani media and spectators alike. They said, "He does not know how to handle the bat, how will he face Pakistan's bowling battery?". There were more unwanted words targetted towards him, yet he never let it affect his mindset. Today that young chap is the demi-god of Cricket. I am talking about Sachin
Tendulkar.

Another interesting story goes about this young man, who was once asked not to touch a steering and was warned that if he did it again, he would be dead. This young man's right thigh was in bad shape and not fit to don racing gear. But due to his self-confidence, his challenges were broken and he went on to set a world record of 7 Formula 1 wins. This is the legendary Michael Schumacher.

Leander Paes. Even after coming back from a scary Brain surgery, he is wonderful on the court and makes crowds marvel while he and Martina Navratilova go about their matches.

Challenges can be of any form. They can be in the form of injuries, fear, disapproval, discouragement or death in focus. Why we can't fight them like the above mentioned people have? After all, we are all human just like them. We walk, talk and behave no differently. Yet, their thinking is so different and so positive.

Open your eyes; enlighten your mind; explore your views; reach your destination. Be what you are. And if you ask what for? Well, the spirit to fight has to be be there. Don't quit, if you fight your challenges, then your challenges will quit.

Get Inspired

Whenever you fail, it means you have not performed to your potential. There are some people however, who perform their very best and bloom, blossom and put in their 200%.

Whenever failure brushes them, they make their own destinations and script their own HISTORY. This article here will talk about such people.

Would you guess the name of this person, who was arrested in the mid 90's. All her positions were captured and she was almost led to stand alone extreme failure. No one know if she could rise again and nobody believed she could. But she had other plans. did not lose confidence and fought back. Today, people who are elder to her, respect her. She is none other than the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ms. Jayalalitha. A true magic women of India, she surely strikes us as an inspiring icon.

The GREAT WALL OF INDIA! Rahul Dravid is one man who will not speak in words, but prefer to talk with his bat. He is known to be an extremely patient man who can Bat for 365 days, if the Test match format would allow him to! He has battled and frustrated all the great bowlers from Waqar Younis to Glen McGrath. The fact that his only competitor is himself (there really is no one like Dravid in Cricket today), makes an amazing feature and a truly inspiring aspect.

This person didn't have a room to stay when he first arrived Mumbai, with dreams to make it big. He stayed at Pune for sometime and would spend 7 hours for travelling between Pune <-> Mumbai. The stress almost created a dent in his belief and he finally decided to become a teacher (which was his second ambition), but his first ambition was acting. He never gave up hope and finally got a break in a serial in Doordarshan. Today he is one of the hightest paid Actors of India. Yes, Shahrukh Khan rules the Box Office today. His dedication towards work and choice of scripts has made him the King Khan.

Next, a native of Calcutta (Kolkata). During School days, he would walk for 35 minutes from Home to School, to save the Bus fare his Father would give him. His habit to save apparently started from then. He comes from a Middle class family. Though not a brilliant student, he was always accurate and knew things he needed to know in his knowledge. He had a good know-how of planning and execution. His belief in himself has taken him to being the THIRD richest person in the world. He is Laksmi Mittal. A successful entrepreneur, business man and another insiration to all.

And finally, this Lady celebrated her 85th Birthday recently. She debuted at the age of 13. Even today, her voice is magical and melodious. Her recent performance in Veer Zaara (the record sakles of which, were the highest) won her more appreciation. Isn't, Lata Mangeshkar an inspiration to all?

There are many more who inspire. Many more examples to be given, but it is your time to join this list. If you learn from your mistakes, control yourself and work with full dedication, determination and discipline, you too will become an icon of INSPIRATION. That day is not too far - ALL THE VERY BEST!

Sacrifice

Everyone who knows about the Mahabharata, would know that when Lord Krishna asked Duryodhana about the people in the world. He replied that all were bad and cruel. When the same question was asked to Yudhisthira, he replied the people of the world are all good, kind, helpful and lovable. The point here is, the way you framed your mind, that is how things will always appear to you. If you always take things positively, all difficulties will be appear as opportunities and if you keep negative thoughts in your mind, then all opportunities will become difficulties.

Keeping your mind-set positive could mean sacrificing certain things for some a good cause. When people watch Cricket on the Television, watch Movies at a Cinema Hall or the comfort of their living rooms, basically when people are enjoying, there are a few people who are risking life and limb for us. Our brave jawans are in constant danger.

Yes, there appears to be a thaw in India - Pakistan relations, but the reality is, that still there are bombs being planted across the country and the danger still looms large. Amid such scenarios, our soldiers protect us at the border, sacrificing everything for our country and for us. WE SHOULD SALUTE THEM.In today's competitive world, to be ahead, we need to keep working harder and smarter.

For example, Google Inc., which was started by a small group is now becoming a vital and rightful competitor to Microsoft. All this due to hard work and sacrifices. They are a positive organization, which ensures that the growth is positive as well.

To put in a positive effort, we need to make a few sacrifices. We must reduce our laziness. If there is some task that is too ardouous, we need not still struggle with it. We stop it for a short while by doing something like may be helping someone younger to you in their studies. These are sacrifices you make, that results in positive growth.

Also the sacrifices made by our former President APJ Abdul Kalam are not small in any way. He has worked tirelessly in almost all defense sectors and Aerospace Engineering divisions for India. He never married, instead dedicated himself to science. He is one of the most respected and humble living legends of India. His sacrifice is simply GREAT. We cannot aim for sacrifices like great people like Mr. Kalam, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, etc. We are all career driven people. However, we can surely aim for sacrifices that help us raise our own standards, which helps raise the standards of the people we work with.

People often say that Cricketers in India are given too much of value and regard. I agree to that in part. There are some people who deserve all that they receive. Sachin Tendulkar has given several sacrifices and made efforts constantly. Even the legendary Don Bradman once said that the reason why Sachin is amazing is the fact that at any given time, Sachin is always willing to learn. He is prepared to be a loyal student of the game always.Sachin, a man who has damaged almost all his bones, is still making runs effortlessly. Can anyone make a sacrifice like Sachin on the field? If you learn new things each day and keep making small sacrifices, you will carve a better future.

The Power of My INDIA

I would like to begin by informing everyone that my intention is not to discourage, degrade or criticise India. This article is meant to provide us methods to make India the number one country in the world.

India is famous for:
1. Population
2. Heat
3. Illliteracy
4. Cheating
5. Crime
6. AIDS (India is placed second to Africa) Wait, there is still much more.Today our population is 100 Million, yet we cannot win a single Olympic medal. Even in Cricket, which is the most popular game here, we haven't won a World Cup since 1983. Don't we have what it takes to win? Don't we have the "going for the kill" spirit like Australia?

A few important reasons that are degrading India:

1. There is lack of quality in work. Right from the production of Toothpaste, to manufacture of Shoes, all products lack 100% quality. Profiteering has rampantly over-taken quality and low quality products are all over the market.

2. There is absolutely no involvement towards progress from our political leaders today. What makes matters worse is that they are ever-ready to blame others for the mistake that they may have made just a few months ago.

3. There is hardly any recognition for talented individuals. Everything here works due to recommendations (Sports, Corporates, Educational institutes, etc.). There are talent shows all over Television today, but even those are due to the vested interests of Media-houses.

4. Corruption is rampant. It seems as though cheating others has become a normal happening. This is most definitely not a good sign.

India in comparison with other countries:

I don't know for how long is everyone going to say, "India is a developing country". When will India become a DEVELOPED country? Several other countries which were spoken of in the same category as India have developed. Their infrastructure and advancements are truly remarkable. JAPAN is an example that comes to one's mind. In 1942, Japan was bombed and a really huge impact was made. Some said that even Grass would never grow in the effected areas. Today, Japan is world number 2 in economy. Other such countries are, TAIWAN, KOREA, SINGAPORE etc. Not so long ago, Tokyo was no different from our very own Mumbai (Bombay back then). Today, Tokyo has evolved as a leading City and one of Asia's most developed Cities.

Steps to make India a WORLD Super-power:

Step 1: Encourage talented people in every field. This will ensure that the laziness that has occupied our genes will be flushed out and habitual activity will prevail.

Step 2: The money of Tax paying citizens should be effectively used for its real purpose. Usually it ends up in the pockets of dishonest politicians. It should actually be utlised for construction and development of better roads, railway tracks, and basic infrastructure building. Bridges and community help centers should be maintained and preserved after their GRAND INAUGURATION.

Step 3: A standard for all products should be maintained. 100% quality HAS TO BE a must to ensure that the Indian market can compete with other countries. We can only see non-indian bikes dominating the roads. Whats does this depict? It depicts that we INDIANS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A DECENT BIKE OR CAR. Also, that if we do make any such product, the quality is not 100% effective.

Step 4: Law should be clear, strict and equal for all. Why is it that the common man, once stuck in a legal issue, keeps sinking further and further down? And why is it that a notorious political leader can go scott free, despite commiting nefarious crimes? Rules should be followed strictly by all Indians

Step 5: Discipline is the key to success. If we discipline ourselves, our peers will follow. Discipline doesn't mean just abiding by laws and staying away from anti-social activities. Discipline has got a lot to with self-improvement. We must take care of things that may seem small and meaningless, yet when done in a big way and followed by everyone, it makes a huge difference.

We all should take this as a target, a goal, an ambition and work towards it. Us being working professionals should concider this as an on-going project. The task is to make a better India. A great India. An India that is the envy of other Super-powers. An India where we all are happy and content.

WORK FOR YOURSELVES, YOU ARE WORKING FOR INDIA.
